The Spanish Wells Community Band was started in January 2006. They have been performing at community events since their debut in April 2006 at the Spanish Wells Methodist Church Fair. One of the more memorable performances was a Christmas concert, "Caroling Under the Stars" held on December 15th, 2006. More recently, on December 14th, 2007, the band performed at a special farewell ceremony for Officer Nathan Butler who had been an instructor since the band began, and a mentor during his tenure on the island working for Bahamas Customs. The band is spearheaded by Mrs. Bonnie Symonette in conjunction with the various section leaders. Various instruments played in the band include the clarinet, drums, flute, guitar, saxophone (alto & soprano), trombone and trumpet.
